Sweet like chocolate: Mocha Mousse is the Pantone Colour of the Year 2025

Brown is in town! Mocha Mousse is the Pantone Colour of the Year 2025 and as the name suggests, it’s a warm and velvety shade akin to a mug of hot chocolate. In fact, many of the Mocha Mousse-inspired items we have found have a gourmet name – praline, toffee, cocoa, truffle and caramel included.

Choosing Mocha Mousse when decorating is a shortcut to cosy and whether you own your own home, rent, are about to move or have just settled into a new pad, brown is the colour trend you can’t ignore. Here are some ideas to introduce a little Mocha Mousse magic to your home.

Paint: as yet, Pantone doesn’t make its own paint but never fear - all of the major manufacturers and DIY stores stock paint that is a close match to Mocha Mousse, or they offer a colour matching service. You may like to order testers of:

Intense Truffle mixing paint by Dulux

    Brown 02 by Lick

    Petticoat Lane by Coat

    Saddle Stitch by Crown

Mocha Mousse is a beautiful colour but if you’re worried about overkill, there are plenty of ways to dial down its intensity. If you are looking for complimentary colours, why not try one of these?

    Cross Stitch by Crown

Plaster III by Paint & Paper Library

    Crème Caramel by French Chic

    Silver Needle by Fired Earth

Wallpaper: while brown may not be the obvious choice as a wallpaper colour, the versatility of a Mocha Mousse will surprise you. There are plain, patterned and textured options that will lend a richness to any room. Order a sample of:

Vicenzo Chocolate from Graham & Brown

Bevel Slat from World of Wallpaper

Heirloom Lace Chocolate from Woodchip & Magnolia

The Secret Squirrel in cocoa from Lucie Annabel

Fabric: the beauty of fabric is three-fold. You can ask a seamstress to create something completely bespoke, give existing items a new lease of life by using an upholsterer or undertake a home craft project following an online tutorial. Set the theme by choosing a Mocha Mousse matched fabric. Order a swatch of:

Lusso Earth velvet from Warner House

Chunky Corduroy in dark mocha brown from the Yorkshire Fabric Shop

Hepworth in toffee from Jane Clayton

Romo Kirkby Studio in praline from Foy & Co

Accessories: if you are moving home soon and want to stick with a neutral backdrop, you can add splashes of warmth and richness by using Mocha Mousse coloured accessories. Place where an instant colour injection is required, then pack the items up and move them to your next home. Take a look at:

Jumbo faux fur throw in mocha from John Lewis

Sierra blanket stitch cushion from M&S

Ribbed stone bottle vase in bitter chocolate from Dunelm

Mocha Mousse knitted throw from French Bedroom

We’d love to see photos of your latest decorating adventures. If you’re revamping with a sale in mind, give us a call for presentation advice.
